For the 9th edition of Miss Earth, no single final question was asked. Instead, images were flashed on screen and each of the eight finalists were tasked to tell something about it.[9]

Miss Earth 2009, the 9th edition of Miss Earth beauty pageant, was held at the Boracay Ecovillage Resort and Convention Center, in theIsland of Boracay, Philippines last November 22, 2009.[1][2][3]
The pageant had a total of 80 delegates from various countries and territories that vied for the Miss Earth crown.[4][5] The pageant's top 16 semifinalists competed on both swimsuit and evening gown competitions to determine the top eight semifinalists, the first time since 2003. In the last round of the contest, the question-and-answer portion, the eight remaining delegates were shown images which depicted destructions of Mother Nature and asked about their impressions. At the conclusion of the competition, outgoing titleholder Miss Earth 2008 Karla Henry of the Philippines crowned Larissa Ramos of Brazil as her successor
